You can have wonderful walks in the magical winter wonderland and you can easily find quieter spots for alpine skiing tours! Get up and out early enough and you stand a good chance of spotting chamois or deer amongst the forests and on the slopes.

Children will have great fun in making a snowman and throwing snow balls at mum or dad! They can also take advantage of one of the many ski schools specifically designed for all levels and ages. Even snow boarding too!

You can discover the history, the culture of our village of Montechiaro (also called Lichtenberg) with our two churches, but there are many other places nearby too such as:

• Montechiaro Castle/Schloss Lichtenberg.
• One of many other fortresses and castles (for example, the Castle of Coira has the largest private armoury in Europe).
• The monastery of Marienberg in Burgusio
• Glorenza / Glurns, "the smallest city in Europe".
• The old church tower in Resia Lake, close to the Austrian border, looks spectacular surounded by ice and snow.
